Happy Howl-O-Ween!
From my family to yours, have a Happy (and safe!) Halloween, Samhain, New Year, All Saints Days, and the rest!
Dahlia says, "Really, Mom? Really?"
And from the Monster Panel today...
The only female faculty member to represent on the Monster panel, where I discussed how smoking a body to make a mummy does not involve getting high. Interesting story on how we got there.

Prior to reading this blog, I had relatively minimal interest in mummufication. I had no idea that human preservation took many forms. I've learned that in Pompeii, preservation occured through the inhalation of smoke, with lava then forming a sort of paster around the corpses of the populace below.
Wish I could have attended the discussion. Skimming through some articles online piques my interest. Thirty days of a corpse in a hut seems like a very labor-intensive process. Other elements involving the smoked mummies are fascinating to me. Personally, I would have a hard time consulting with or confising with an actual corpse.
